Certificate in fruit spirits (clear)

This course is intended for persons requiring a focused level of fruit spirit product knowledge. It is suitable for those with little previous experience but requiring a greater depth of knowledge in the specific category of fruit spirits than that offered by the WSET® Level 2 Award in Spirits.

This course offers focused coverage of all the fruit spirit styles and end use of the identified products together with tasting technique.

Curriculum

  • Production, Distillation and Introduction to tasting
  • Common faults & styles of fruit spirits
  • Finishing methodology; aromas; Liqueurs and “Vieille” products
  • Customer information and advice (storage)

To gain the Certificate in Fruit Spirits qualification candidates will be required to:

Successfully complete:

Theory

  • a multiple choice paper of 50 questions
  • a written tasting note (generic)

Practical

  • Two (2) tasting notes
  • Correctly identify faults and aromas of a series of samples
  • Portfolio of Tasting Notes (completed during the course

Introduction to the World of Spirits; WSET® Level 2 Award in Spirits

an advantage: WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits

Guided learning hours:
It is recommended that a student should allocate a minimum of 28 hours of study to successfully complete the full programme. The hours will usually be a combination of taught and private study time. It is recommended that the teaching delivery time is no less than 8 hours
